Job Description

The City of Sioux Falls Mosquito Control is seeking reliable teammates to join our seasonal staff. The City of Sioux Falls Mosquito Control program works to monitor and mitigate the spread of mosquito borne diseases by use of trap collections, lab identification and testing. Field staff use this collected data to help inform surveillance efforts in response to mosquito activity.

These are seasonal, non-benefitted positions involving 20-40 hours per week with a flexible start date from approximately April-October. Schedules in April/May and September/October can be accommodated with evening hours.

Open Positions include:

  • Field Staff: Flexible 40 hours, Requires moderate lifting as well as walking in potentially rough terrain. Daytime shifts 8:00am – 4:30pm and opportunities for evening hours.
  • Sprayers: Part Time, Flexible 5-20 hours, Shifts from approximately 8:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.This is a great opportunity for individuals with daytime obligations looking for a part-time position.


Qualifications and Skills

Staff will need to obtain an applicator’s license through the SD Dept. of Agriculture upon hire. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be 18 years of age and older.
