Join Our Team as a Seasonal Tack Truck and Transport Driver!

Western Construction is looking for a Seasonal Tack Truck and Transport Driver to join our trusted team and support our paving operations.
In this role, you’ll operate a tack truck, an essential piece of the asphalt paving process, while also transporting heavy equipment safely to job sites. This is a hands-on, fast-paced seasonal position that runs from mid-April through November, offering excellent pay, solid benefits, and the opportunity to return year after year with seasonal rehire bonuses.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a tack truck to apply asphalt oil ahead of paving operations – load, heat, spray, and clean tanks and spray bars as needed.
- Safely haul heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites using manual and automatic commercial vehicles.
- Follow all DOT and company safety procedures while on highways, local roads, and job sites.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and meet transport regulations.
- Maintain accurate records using ELDs and other documentation tools.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, report any issues, and keep your vehicle clean and in good working order.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members via radio or phone to coordinate logistics.
Qualifications:
- Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
- Valid Class A CDL and a clean driving record.
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements (or ability to obtain within a reasonable time).
- Experience driving both manual and automatic transmission trucks.
- Strong attention to safety, equipment care, and following procedures.
- Willingness to work overtime and some weekends during the peak season.
- A positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to working as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) occasionally throughout the work shift with or without assistance.
- Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
- Frequent exposure to noise, dust, fuel, oil, or other chemicals.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
- Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required.
