The SD Federal Property Agency, a Program under the State of South Dakota, Bureau of Administration, acquires personal property no longer needed by the Federal government and makes it available to State and local governments at a reduced cost, thus serving the citizens of South Dakota and saving state tax dollars. Property is also available to additional organizations as described by federal law and regulations. We operate from a warehouse/distribution center in Huron, SD.

We are seeking a well organized, dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our team in our secretarial position. This position plays the vital roles of the primary contact for phone calls and greeting customers, as well as administrative support in creating and maintaining correspondence, records and files.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Very good internal and external customer service skills, computer skills, the ability to multitask, to adapt to changing priorities and to be a strong team player.

Knowledge of:
  • business English including grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • modern office equipment, practices, and procedures;
  • basic bookkeeping;
  • computer software applications to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

Skill to:
  • type accurately and create correspondence;
  • communicate information clearly;
  • assist in marketing practices and help develop new marketing methods and tools;
  • monitor and update social and other media accounts;
  • formulate logical and reasonable conclusions from available information;
  • perform arithmetic problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

Ability to:
  • read and comprehend materials;
  • pay close attention to detail;
  • learn and follow department rules, procedures, and functions;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and the general public.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
