Job Description
The USD Center for Disabilities within the USD Sanford School of Medicine is seeking a senior accountant.
The position is responsible for post-award financial administration of grants and service contracts for the Center. The Sr. Accountant is responsible for the finances for CfD and its post award activity, according to federal, state and University policies. The incumbent will review and approve all post award grant expenditures, monitor and prepare reports on cost share activity and ensure compliant close out of awards.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
Knowledge of federal and state laws and rules as they relate to finance and grants management
Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, accounting principles and financial analysis
Knowledge of public administration as it relates to program activities
Proficiency in computer applications with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
Experience with the Banner Financial System is desirable
Ability to maintain accurate records and files, both electronic and manual
Ability to effectively communicate information
Ability to research and interpret applicable rules, statutes and policies
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals and entities
The ability to take initiative, be self-directed and work independently is required
The ability to develop systems of compliance within other established systems, a positive attitude, attention to detail and good interpersonal skills are necessary
A baccalaureate degree is preferred; however, alternate combinations of experience and education will be considered.
