Responsible for maintaining inventory though out the facility with the use of data and analytics, as well as managing new product introductions, physician specific requests and providing support to the value analysis process. The Senior Inventory Specialist is responsible for regulatory issue management as it relates to recalls, product back orders and emergencies. This position is the point of contract for physicians and clinical staff as it relates to supplies. They are the subject matter expert on the areas they are responsible for and have a working knowledge of the supplies and equipment used in the area, as well as the purpose and alternatives. This position will also lead inventory decision making for their areas with respect of how to stock and maintain adequate supply for patient care needs. Leads in the conversion of supplies from one vendor to another, capturing and researching data in preparation for site impacts, including communication to leaders and physicians as applicable and coordinating site specific training and education as needed.
Proficient user of a variety of software platforms to develop and interpret consistent data as it relates to supply chain, including but not limited to: excel, access, MMIS systems, GPO portals, GHX EDI portal, and other inventory software platforms.
Prepares work plans and time lines that ensure timely completion of major milestones in the preparation of Supply Chain Inventory projects, including but not limited to: department expansions, moves, new supply room builds, conversions, major reports and assigned projects.
Provides inventory training to front line material handlers and other Supply Chain staff on inventory management practices.
Works collaboratively with Avera EMR Analysis and other department members on projects, as requested.
Conducts research, assembly and analysis of data and information for administrative and other needs.
Reviews PAR levels regularly to ensure product availability for end users. Forecasts inventory tendencies to minimize stock out or over stock scenarios. Coordinates the appropriate removal and reporting of any stocked products that are recalled. Manages the cycle counting process and any related quality assurance practices.
Leads and manages the physical inventory process as well as all related reports, documentation and communication.
Subject matter expert on supplies in areas assigned to them, is the resource to clinical staff and physicians as it relates to product substitutions, product introductions and how products are utilized.
Manages the customer relationship with areas in their responsibility to ensure that excellent customer service is received and is looked to as the one Supply Chain resource for the department. Develops and maintains supply management metrics for the areas in their responsibility.
