Senior Project Accountant

Location & Work Model: On-site – Sioux Falls, SD
This role works closely with operations, production, and project teams in a manufacturing and construction-support environment.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday during standard business hours
Salary Range: $80,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience

The Role

The Senior Project Accountant plays a key role in managing the financial side of complex manufacturing and construction-related projects from contract award through project closeout. This position partners closely with project management, operations, and finance teams to ensure accurate job costing, billing, collections, and financial reporting. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys problem-solving, improving processes, and working in a fast-paced project environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage project accounting activities throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Support accurate job costing, billing, revenue tracking, and financial reporting
  • Review contracts and project documentation to support compliance and financial accuracy
  • Lead progress billing, retainage billing, and change order tracking
  • Monitor accounts receivable activity and support collections efforts on outstanding invoices
  • Partner with operations and project teams to resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues
  • Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and month-end financial processes
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to accounting workflows, reporting, and internal controls

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in project accounting, construction accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of job costing, contract accounting, and revenue recognition principles
  • Experience managing billing, accounts receivable, and collections processes
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or cost variances
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related experience equivalent to the role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, precast, concrete, or industrial project environments
  • Experience with ERP or construction accounting systems such as Sage 300 CRE or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with AIA or AGC contract documentation
  • Knowledge of mechanic’s lien processes or construction collections practices
  • Experience supporting multi-state sales and use tax compliance
