Job Summary:

Performs a combination of professional and secretarial duties, or high-level clerical support duties requiring independent judgment, analysis, and latitude in decision-making and problem solving to administer assigned programs and to support office functions. Performs other work as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous clerical support experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This position requires knowledge of Business English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation; modern office equipment; common business, purchasing, and accounts payable/receivable practices and procedures; and bookkeeping methods.

Skills needed to proficiently utilize multiple software applications and office equipment, communicate effectively in a written and verbal format, and type accurately with minimal errors.

The abilities needed are to follow business processes and assist with the implementation of best business practices. The position must efficiently complete a variety of business processes independently, which could include, but are not limited to, scheduling consultative examinations and disability hearings; handling customer services, such as case inquiries, reminder, and follow-up calls; and providing instructions to claimants and medical providers; claims development; processing and validation of mail and faxed materials; order assistance request examinations; and other receptionist duties. Must be able to read and comprehend written materials; proofread and edit material for grammar, spelling, syntax, and style; and calculate solutions to arithmetic problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. The position also requires the ability to record, file, scan, and transmit information accurately; research and compile data; prioritize responsibilities to accomplish work in an organized and efficient manner; multitask; communicate concisely, exercising tact, patience, and discretion in dealing with persons of varying backgrounds and temperament; and perform duties promptly and courteously.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
