Department: Myrl & Roy’s Shop
Reports to: Equipment Resource Manager
Job Summary:
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of L. G. Everist, Inc. equipment by scheduling, tracking and recording repairs/maintenance, supervising mechanics, establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, and working with plant managers to establish best practices in the use and maintenance of company equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct report to the Equipment Resource Manager.
Responsible for the direct supervision of mechanics.
Works closely with Truck Foreman and Asphalt/Gravel Crew Foremen and mechanics to coordinate daily activities.
Keeps all appropriate personnel informed of any health or safety issues impacting their areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising mechanics. Responsibilities include: hiring, work scheduling, performance goal setting/evaluation, and terminations.
Responsible for insuring that all company safety practices, rules, and initiatives are communicated and followed.
Maintains running inventory of all stocked parts.
Maintain a system for tracking repairs, oil samples, overhauls and component exchange logs in conjunction with the mechanics.
Develops relationships with suppliers for all goods and services rendered.
Research, test and implement innovative methods of maintenance and repairs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledgeable of the equipment used in running a trucking operation.
Ability to evaluate quality and effectiveness of repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively with direct reports, peers, and senior managers.
Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations as they apply to operations.
Ability to use computer and equipment maintenance software.
Ability to plan work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
Valid driver’s license required. Class A CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
Education and Experience:
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical work, exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds often.
Performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
