Job Description
South Dakota Parent Connection is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 1985 by a group of dedicated parents and professionals to provide training and information statewide to meet the needs of parents and families caring for individuals with disabilities.
Rate: $20-22 per hour

Hours: 32 hours per week; core work hours 8:30am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday with some nights, weekends, and travel required for training.
Job Objective: To support the mission of South Dakota Parent Connection (SDPC) through resource development, training, and direct support to families.
Education/Experience:
Degree in Special Education and/or parent or family member of a child with a disability preferred.
Minimum of 5 years working in disability/education field and/or lived experience as a parent/family member.
Working knowledge/application of provisions of IDEA.
Demonstrated ability to organize, problem solve, and complete projects.
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, etc.
Must hold a valid SD Driver’s License.

Essential Functions:
Assist with development of resources including briefs, guides, training materials including PowerPoint presentations.
Coordinate delivery of SDPC trainings and resources for both families and professionals.
Provide technical assistance to assigned programs.
Timely and accurate data reporting utilizing centralized databases.
Provide information and technical assistance to families and professionals regarding special education and/or health care resources for their children with disabilities or special health care needs, via in-person, telephone, email, and materials dissemination by mail.
Represent SDPC through involvement with various state and local task forces, or advisory groups as requested/approved by the Executive Director.
Maintain privacy of records and information.
Requires the ability to receive and express detailed information through oral communication, visual acuity and the ability to read and understand written directions.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Functions
Assist in the implementation of the mission statement and all policies and procedures as approved by SDPC’s Board of Directors.
Work and communicate effectively with the public and all SDPC staff members to build and maintain effective relationship partners and SDPC team.
Represent the interests of families with children with disabilities and special health care needs, accurately and professionally at all times.
Physical Conditions:
Sedentary work involving sitting and driving, and periods of standing to deliver trainings.
Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
