Job Summary:

The Special Projects Manager is responsible for assisting with assigned activities at a given site or sites including but not limited to: safety, adherence to regulations, portable plant operations, plant set-ups/modifications, management of interplant equipment sharing, field conveyor installations, new fresh water and or silt pond pump and piping installations, internal earthworks projects, site improvements and maintenance and housekeeping. May work at more than one site located in Fort Lupton and Firestone, CO as well as Horse Creek, WY areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a champion of safety. Follows and ensures compliance with all health, safety, environmental and other applicable regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership, direction and coordination for day-to-day activities and in achieving daily goals and housekeeping.
  • Assist with plant set-ups / modifications, portable plant operations, management of interplant equipment sharing.
  • Oversees field conveyor take down and or installations, pump and piping disassembly and installations, internal earthworks projects.
  • Oversee site improvement and maintenance activities.
  • Assists with assigned mine and plant production assignments.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained to minimize downtime.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and pursue improvements in operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with projects that support core business objectives.
  • Assist with managing subcontractors, vendors, haulers, etc. onsite.
  • Leads and manages assigned employees in achieving daily goals.
  • Provides safety, task, and equipment training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A four-year degree in mining engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in aggregate operations and personnel management is preferred.
  • Strong team-building and coaching skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation with a strong ability to lead a team.
  • An attitude of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills – listening, verbal and written. Asks questions to clarify understanding.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Tools
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
  • May occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions as well as exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
