THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

  • Lead and develop a team of 4–6 Commodity Managers, providing direction on sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and category priorities.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies by evaluating supplier capabilities, production capacity, market conditions, material availability, and potential supply constraints.
  • Analyze supplier bids and competitive proposals, assessing pricing, quality, availability, manufacturing costs, and overall value to support sound purchasing decisions.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and other internal teams on new product development and supplier qualification, including supplier visits, audits, and capability assessments.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce material costs and lead times while improving inventory turns, supply continuity, and overall procurement performance.
  • Monitor market conditions, commodity trends, material developments, and supplier activity to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business.
  • Oversee purchasing requirements, including purchase order activity and appropriate order quantities based on established planning and replenishment methods.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the supply base, improve supplier performance, and support long-term sourcing and operational objectives.

 

Job Requirements
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• 10+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or manufacturing experience.
• Proven experience managing suppliers and resolving complex cost, quality, delivery, and supply issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data and make sound business decisions.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with an understanding of purchasing processes, materials, and production requirements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Supply chain or procurement certifications, such as CPSM or CSCP, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings are a plus; occasional travel may be required.
