Cain Ellsworth & Company,LLP is a relationship-driven CPA and advisory firm with almost 60 years of history serving clients across the Midwest.  With a team of over 30 professionas and two offices, we are small enough to know each other well - and large enough to make a real impact.  

We are looking for a Staff Accountant in either our Sheldon, Iowa or Sioux Falls, South Dakota office.

As a Staff Accountant, you will play an important role in helping clients achieve their financial and business goals.  Working alongside experienced accounting professionals, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of accounting, tax, and/or advisory engagements while continuing to develop your technical expertise and professional judgment.  

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful client work, collaborate with a supportive team, and build strong relationships both internally and externally.  As your skills grow, you will be trusted with increasingly complex assignments and encouraged to contribute ideas that improve processes and deliver exceptional client service.

Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and review financial information that helps clients make confident business decisions.
  • Participate in audit, accounting, and tax engagements for privately held businesses, nonprofits, and individuals.
  • Develop meaningful client relationships while serving as a trusted advisor and problem solver.
  • Take ownership of assignments and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on client success.

  • Utilize technology and innovative tools to improve efficiency and deliver exceptional results.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with previous public accounting experience being preferred.
Expertise in numbers and good math skills are very important
Must have knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis
Must be able to collect, evaluate and interpret data, in both statistical and narrative form
Should be capable of preparing files and maintaining records and documentation
Good written and oral communication skills
Good knowledge of computers, including various software applications including Microsoft Excel
Other skills required are related to problem solving, entering and verifying data, and good time management and organization skills.
