We want YOU here! Be the Difference in supporting our amazing employees behind the scenes. As a Staff Attendance Specialist on our Human Resources team, you'll help guide staff through their time away from work while ensuring processes run smoothly and with care across the District.
REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in human resources, benefits administration, or employee relations, or work experience within the District.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES DESIRED:Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other federal/state leave laws. Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements, employee handbooks, and benefit riders. High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex policies clearly. Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES - Administer and manage all types of employee leave requests, including those under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), military leave, workers' compensation, and personal leave, in accordance with applicable laws, collective bargaining agreements, and benefit riders.
- Interpret and apply provisions related to attendance, sick leave, long-term leave, and return-to-work procedures as outlined in employee contracts and benefit guides.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to employees regarding leave eligibility, required documentation, and benefit impacts.
- Issue FMLA notices and related correspondence in compliance with legal timelines and documentation requirements.
- Track and monitor leave usage and employee eligibility using the District's timekeeping and HRIS systems. Load, audit, and correct leave information in a timely manner.
- Communicate employee leave information with administrators to ensure appropriate staffing coverage when employees are unable to work.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues, Payroll, and Benefits staff to ensure accurate processing of paid and unpaid leave in alignment with contract provisions and benefit guidelines.
- Support and educate administrators and supervisors on attendance policies, leave procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain confidential employee leave records in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and District standards.
- Generate and analyze reports related to attendance, leave usage, and trends; assist with compliance audits as needed.
- Assist employees with questions related to attendance, maternity leave, sick leave usage, benefit continuation, and other leave-related matters outlined in collective bargaining agreements and benefit riders.
- Supports the work of the Benefits Specialist when needed.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement efforts to enhance service and ensure legal and contractual compliance.
- Perform other related HR functions as assigned.
PAY INFORMATIONSpecialist - LeveL MX, starting at $28.89 per hour
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTEMonday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour unpaid break
1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months
