POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs manual labor and equipment operation to complete road repairs, snow removal, and other assignments and to assist with overall division operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Not all duties may be assigned to each position. The allocation of duties for this position will be dependent upon the department/division assigned and qualification of assigned work/equipment.
Duties assigned to Operator I
Safely operates heavy and light construction equipment, machinery, and tools for maintenance and construction related operations.
1. Performs general road maintenance and related activities including flagging traffic, mowing, temporary and permanent asphalt surface repairs, patching holes, sawing pavement, concrete repair and pouring, clearing brush and trees, vegetation control, sweeping, routing and sealing road cracks, and removing dead animals and trash.
2. Sprays herbicides/pesticides to control weeds/mosquitoes on City property.
3. Maintains ditches, waterways, and storm drains for proper drainage.
4. Assist with maintenance of street signage and signal lights.
5. Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment.
6. Performs snow removal operations.
7. Installs sandbags for emergency flood control.
8. Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
9. Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
10. Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed.
11. Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data.
12. Completes written records of labor and materials used for each work project.
13. Performs emergency repairs and work as necessary.
14. Reports to work for after hour needs, as assigned.
15. Other duties as assigned.
