Job Description

Augustana University invites applications for a Student Employment and Human Resources Coordinator. This position serves as a key member of the Human Resources team by coordinating the university's student employment program while supporting a broad range of HR operations. The coordinator serves as a primary resource for employees, supervisors, and student workers, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused employment processes from hire through separation.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Coordinate the university's student employment program, serving as the primary resource for supervisors and student employees. 
  • Manage high-volume student and employee onboarding, employment documentation, I-9 compliance, background checks, and personnel records. 
  • Maintain HRIS data, employment records, employee portals, and HR reporting while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. 
  • Respond to employee, supervisor, retiree, and student inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment processes. 
  • Partner with Payroll, Financial Aid, and campus departments to support employment transactions and student employment operations. 
  • Assist with recruitment activities, applicant tracking, employment changes, benefits administration, and payroll-related processes. 
  • Coordinate employee engagement and recognition programs, onboarding activities, HR communications, and departmental events. 
  • Support compliance initiatives, file audits, process improvements, and special projects that enhance HR operations and the employee experience. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in an administrative, human resources, accounting, or related office environment. 
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn HR information systems and technology. 
  • Experience in higher education or the nonprofit sector is preferred.
