This position will facilitate our 7th grade Directed Studies classroom and guide students through completing homework assignments. Preference will be given to those who have experience managing adolescent behaviors and can provide academic assistance to students.
REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION LEVEL:Two years successful post high school education.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination/mind-eye coordination; intermittent keyboarding and telephoning. Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer proficiency in spreadsheets, and databases, and word processing. Demonstrated ability to work well with others. Demonstrated organizational and task completion skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES- Serves as a contact and liaison between students, teachers, and parents for student homework completion.
- Communicates with counselors and administrators about academic concerns for individual students.
- Corresponds with students, teachers, and parents about uncompleted school work and provides early intervention communication between all three shareholders.
- Engages the process for students to get tutorial services through the Learning Center and/or SHARP program (homework help.)
- Resolves issues concerning parental permission, communication, and transportation so that students may partake in after school tutoring services.
- Assigns students to supervised lunch periods for homework completion and arranges for sack lunches for students involved.
- Supervises homework completion during the lunch periods.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
