Summary:
The Division of Behavioral Health oversees the publicly funded behavioral health system in South Dakota by providing the funding, resources, and technical assistance in an administrative role. The prevention program within the Division of Behavioral Health contracts with prevention providers across the state who provide individual-based, school-based, and community-based prevention programming within their communities. This position will be responsible for administratively supporting substance use prevention efforts and assisting in supporting suicide prevention efforts as needed.

The primary duties associated with this position are:
- Manage federal grant reporting and implementation requirements in key personnel role;
- Review contractor invoices for appropriateness and proper coding for prevention funded services;
- Assist with monitoring compliance with contracted expectations;
- Oversee tracking and reporting of prevention related outcomes;
- Review and process requests for promotional awareness materials related to prevention services;
- Deliver prevention related trainings and presentations and staff Division booths to spread awareness of publicly funded resources;
- Provide input and recommendations to Program Manager and leadership regarding prevention activities in alignment with state and federal requirements and best practices;
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires occasional in and out-of-state travel.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the Human Service, Social Service, Counseling, Addiction Studies or related field. Preference for someone with a certified prevention specialist (CPS) designation or SPF Application for Prevention Success Training (SAPST) or Foundations of Prevention training. The ideal candidate will have experience in prevention programming, training and/or presenting, working with health promotion, reducing risk factors, and/or building protective factors.
Knowledge of:
- the publicly funded behavioral health system;
- the principles and practices of prevention service delivery;
- proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft related programs.
Skill to:
- write and communicate effectively and efficiently;
- exercise independent judgment within established guidelines;
- effectively manage workload and assigned tasks;
- effectively manage time to meet deadlines.
Ability to:
- provide technical assistance to stakeholders;
- comprehend and apply pertinent laws, rules and policies;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders;
- ability to deliver trainings as assigned including completion of training of trainers (TOT) as applicable;
- demonstrate compassion, respect, courtesy and tact when interacting with others.
