This Tax Program Representative position involves professional work in investigations and enforcement of the state Reemployment Assistance (formerly Unemployment Insurance) program in accordance with state law, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. It will include investigating work and earnings discrepancies and tips/leads. This will require communication with employers and individuals to obtain necessary information to complete the review for accuracy and fraud as well as the input and completion of the investigation summary. This position may also include collections processes to ensure recovery of overpayments. This would include contact with individuals to collect on overpayments as well as civil action processes as needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
High school education or equivalent. Some post high school is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of:
  • business English and grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • modern office equipment, practices, and procedures;
  • computer software applications;
  • department rules, procedures, and functions.

Skill to:
  • proofread materials to correct errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation;
  • apply critical thinking in dealing with complex situations.

Ability to:
  • type accurately;
  • gather, compare, and summarize data from a variety of sources;
  • operate a variety of office equipment;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely;
  • read and comprehend materials;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public;
  • proof and edit solutions to arithmetic problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages;
  • formulate logical and reasonable conclusions from available information.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
