SUMMARY

The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations within assigned production work cells, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency objectives are met. This position provides hands-on leadership by coordinating people, materials, and processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Team Lead acts as the primary point of contact for the work cell, driving accountability, standard work, and operational excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities within assigned work cells to meet production schedules and customer demand.
  • Partner with Production Managers, Supervisors, and other Team Leads to align resources and priorities.
  • Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring completion of safety checklists and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage Manufacturing Orders (MOs) through the work cell, ensuring accuracy, proper routing, and timely completion.
  • Review drawings, work instructions, and SOPs to ensure manufacturing activities meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist with machine setup and operation, ensuring efficient and safe production practices.
  • Monitor in-process and finished product quality; adjust labor, equipment, or materials as needed to maintain standards.
  • Ensure raw material staging and availability to support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Track tooling usage and report tooling needs, repairs, or replacements.
  • Identify and communicate required changes to MOs related to material, routing, or work center updates.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Fourth Shift) to track production, material usage, and labor.
  • Manage drop-off material including storage, usage, and disposition.
  • Support scrap reduction efforts and material utilization goals within the work cell.
  • Assist with directing team members to work centers, scheduling, training, and adherence to SOPs.
  • Support documentation efforts, including creating and updating SOPs and required production paperwork.
  • Assist with sorting, cleaning, packaging, and staging finished parts for downstream operations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.



Qualifications

education & TRAINING requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment required.



work experience requirements

  • Previous leadership or supervision of front-line team members preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing best practices, lean principles, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as Fourth Shift preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Basic Math skills required.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at waist level and 30 lbs. at shoulder level on an occasional basis.
  • Stand and walk frequently throughout the shift.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment.
