Ammonia Technician

Sonstegard Foods of Arkansas – Springdale

 

This position will directly report to the Maintenance Manager and work with the all Management, Production personnel, and Maintenance personnel. Primarily responsible for performing major building, HVAC, boiler, ammonia, electrical, and repairs as necessary. Responsible for compliance with all company policies, SQF regulations and local state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

 ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Troubleshoot Electrical/Computer Programming.
  • Diagnose and repair Mechanical Failures (i.e. bearings, pumps, etc.).
  • Perform advanced preventative maintenance on machines and building as assigned daily.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
  • General Welding and fabrication.
  • CIP Knowledge (pumps, valves, controller, etc).
  • Work with the manager to coordinate repair parts are ordered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with unplanned machine breakdowns as needed.
  • Maintain daily paperwork tracking water usage, boiler testing, monitor ammonia system, etc.
  • Ensure safe use of equipment.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED). Experience of two (2) plus years trade or technical skills such as, but not limited to welding, electrical, HVAC, industrial maintenance or machine shop.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific reports and documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from management. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Possess Ammonia Level II Certification.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be computer literate. Experience with Microsoft Office essential.
