We want YOU here! The Temporary Special Education Support Assistant provides direct support to students with disabilities under the supervision and direction of a certified Special Education Teacher. This position assists in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), supports student learning and behavior goals, and helps create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment. Staff filling these roles must work 4 to 5 days each week for the duration of the assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to follow directions, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team.
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting all learners.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Approval as a substitute teacher and completed substitute teacher training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide instructional support to students as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Assist students with academic tasks, behavioral strategies, communication, and social skills.
- Support students in general education classrooms, special education settings, or other assigned areas.
- Monitor and redirect student behavior using strategies provided by the supervising teacher.
- Assist students with daily living skills, mobility, feeding, hygiene, and toileting needs as necessary.
- Prepare materials and adapt classroom activities to meet individual student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
- Collect and record student data as directed for progress monitoring purposes.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or building administration.
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS OPTIONSSubstitute Teacher Daily Rate: $160 per day ($175 per day for Title I schools)
Eligible for Health Insurance and Dental Insurance.
Those on weekly pay through the Rapid Pay Card who wish to elect benefits
must switch to montly pay.
