Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Vice President of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services to provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of all outpatient psychiatric services across the state. This position is responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial performance of the outpatient clinic. The VP will lead strategic initiatives that advance the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional, evidence-based, and patient-centered mental health care. What You'll Do:

Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Support the development and execution of a strategic plan for outpatient behavioral health services aligned with CHS’s mission and community needs.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to expand services, improve access, and enhance outcomes. Lead change initiatives that drive innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Clinical Oversight
  • Provide clinical leadership for multidisciplinary teams, ensuring delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across all outpatient programs.
  • Implement coordinated care models that integrate mental and physical health. Oversee efforts to improve access, equity, and outcomes statewide.

Operational Excellence
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure effective staffing, efficient workflows, and quality service delivery.
  • Monitor KPIs related to performance, productivity, access, and satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives to improve care coordination and streamline administrative processes across locations.

Regulatory Compliance & Clinical Governance
  • Act as the primary liaison with accrediting and licensing bodies for outpatient services.
  • Ensure full compliance with healthcare regulations related to safety, privacy, and licensure.
  • Partner with the Compliance Director on audits, risk management, and governance efforts to maintain high standards of care.

Financial Leadership & Resource Management
  • In partnership with the COO, manage the outpatient budget and support sustainable financial strategies.
  • Collaborate with finance and program leaders to pursue grants and partnerships that fund innovation and expansion.

Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement
  • Lead quality assurance and improvement efforts using data to inform decisions and reduce disparities.
  • Oversee corrective action plans and evaluations driven by metrics, feedback, and community needs.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
  • Represent CHS in behavioral health collaborations, policy forums, and community outreach.
  • Build strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, government agencies, and educational institutions.

Requirements

Education:
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, public health, or related field required.
  • Doctoral degree preferred.

Licensure:
  • Current licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PhD, PsyD, RN).

Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health or clinical operations, with at least 3-5 years at a senior or executive level.

Skills:
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams, managing complex budgets, and driving strategic growth in outpatient or integrated care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of managed care, Medicaid/Medicare regulations, and value-based care principles.
