SUMMARY:
Based in the Midwest, Johnson Feed, Inc. (JFI) is a trusted leader in transportation, logistics, and wholesale distribution. Our wholesale division supplies a wide range of products—from road salt and water softener salt to premium pet food and supplies. The Vice President of Sales in our Product Sales Division is a key member of JFI’s leadership team, responsible for driving revenue, strengthening customer and vendor relationships, and guiding the strategic direction of the sales function. This role oversees the end-to-end operations of product sales, inventory and warehousing, and coordinating transportation and drivers to ensure seamless delivery from purchase to customer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve company targets and meet board directed objectives
- Lead, manage and support a team of ~10 sales representatives across various territories, providing guidance, performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with accounting to align sales forecasting with budgeting and cash flow planning.
- Report regularly to the Board of Directors on sales performance, departmental progress and strategic recommendations.
Customer & Vendor Relations
- Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with key customers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing and service agreements with customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness.
- Lead customer retention efforts and implement strategies to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, reliable product sourcing, and alignment with demand forecasts.
- Identify market trends and introduce new products or services in response to customer demand.
Product Inventory and Transportation
- Oversee inventory planning and control, maintaining optimal stock levels to meet customer demand while minimizing holding costs.
- Direct warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory handling, safe practices, and efficient workflows.
- Coordinate transportation and delivery logistics, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and reliable product delivery to customers.
KEY SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of progressive sales experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in identifying new business opportunities, securing key accounts, and expanding existing customer relationships to drive revenue growth and long-term retention.
- Proven ability to build and sustain strong vendor partnerships, negotiate favorable terms, and coordinate procurement strategies that support sales and inventory goals
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly
- Commitment to a full-time, in-office presence when not traveling.
- Proficiency in CRM/ERP systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full-time, in-office leadership position based at our corporate headquarters. Regular travel is required to visit customers, vendors, and industry events. When not traveling, the individual is expected to be present and engaged on-site to lead their team and oversee daily operations.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including during travel and site visits.
- Ability to occasionally lift, move, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be physically able to access warehouse environments, including climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, and navigating around equipment.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and travel by car or air as needed.
