Levo is a local credit union aiming to make personal finance more accessible and enjoyable for our members. We seek a VP of Information Systems to oversee our information technology and computer systems. In this role, you will assess our current processes, recommend software and hardware upgrades, and plan future initiatives. You must also manage and optimize data to support our long-term strategies. You will be expected to understand corporate goals and operational infrastructure and facilitate the design and implementation of Levo’s Business Intelligence Initiatives.

VP Information Systems Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the credit union industry, including challenges and opportunities.
  • Participate in planning for multi-year efforts, design process, technology strategy, and roadmap to address current and future needs.
  • Lead and support the IT and Systems and Data teams while collaborating with various stakeholders on priority projects and IT security initiatives.
  • Communicates the credit union's goals, projects, and timelines to the department; plans ways to execute those goals within the department.
  • Track, prioritize, and update the status for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Manage adherence to change management processes to plan, document, and execute system upgrades, changes, and decommissions.
  • Define, design, and implement Business Intelligence (BI) and Data strategies for operational, ad-hoc, and other BI-related solutions.
  • Lead the data management processes that will govern the definition, documentation, and mapping rules for movement of data from disparate data sources and into the various components and subject areas.
  • Manage vendor relationships and build strong partnerships.
  • Lead the creation of data models, including robust data definitions, entity-relationship-attribute models, and relational and/or dimensional models.
  • Oversee contract negotiations with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Create, provide input, and manage IT and Systems and Data Budget
  • Provide best practices and guidance regarding data modeling (relational and dimensional), and reporting deliverables.
  • Lead the development of complex business reports for direct lines of business and other areas as requested.
  • Work with technical and business users to understand requirements then identify, and design multiple solution options as well as determine and recommend a right-sized approach.
  • Aligning data policy, governance, and administration with relevant regulatory, legal, and ethical mandates.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Specific Competencies: The ideal individual will be a strategic thinker with excellent planning and organizational skills. Must demonstrate knowledge of project management skills and methodologies, such as Agile, Lean, and Six Sigma. Possess expert-level SQL skills and knowledge of ETL (extract, transform, load) concepts and a background in data warehousing, data security, and data mapping.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises the AVP of Systems & data and AVP of Information Technology. Indirectly supervises the Systems & Data and Information Technology teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8-10 years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideally, qualified individuals should meet the degree requirements and have (8) eight or more years of combined successful experience in business intelligence, systems knowledge, and data strategies.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies and protocols, voice over IP, telecommunications, hardware, and software. Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing concepts and proven experience delivering both. Experience in Data Center and Network Design.
Certificates IT-related certifications like A+, Microsoft certifications, Cisco certifications, VMware certifications.
Other Skills and Abilities Excellent planning and organizational skills. Understanding of dimensional modeling, tabular modeling, and other warehousing modeling techniques. Project management skills and knowledge of Agile, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies. Ability to move between high-level architectural review/design and the "roll up the sleeves" level of providing architectural oversight for project delivery. Expert knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts, development, and experience. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail.
Other Qualifications Must be willing to travel as necessary for ongoing training.
