POSITION SUMMARY
The Weld Department Coordinator provides advanced technical expertise and leadership within the welding and fabrication departments. This role ensures welding operations run efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards through expert-level knowledge, strong organizational skills, and proactive coordination. The ideal candidate combines hands-on welding ability with proven leadership and scheduling skills to help plan, organize, and execute daily production activities across multiple teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Provides flexible production support across the Body Fabrication, Pump Assembly, and Parts Welding departments to help meet daily and long-term production goals.
- Serves as a technical resource and mentor by training, qualifying, and supporting welders in proper techniques, equipment setup, and adherence to established procedures.
- Coordinates daily welding schedules, task assignments, and resource allocation to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of projects.
- Conducts visual and non-destructive inspections of welds to verify quality, structural integrity, and compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards.
- Maintains accurate documentation, including welder qualifications, inspection reports, and process updates.
- Performs setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance on welding equipment to ensure consistent performance and minimize downtime.
- Identifies and drives continuous improvement initiatives in welding processes, workflow, and quality control to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborates closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to align welding operations with broader manufacturing priorities.
- Promotes a safe, organized, and accountable work environment by modeling best practices and maintaining clear communication across shifts.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Tools to be utilized:
Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheels, saw, shear, welders, and tape measure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
| Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: - 5+ years of professional welding or fabrication experience required.
- 8+ years of progressive welding experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW), materials, and blueprint interpretation required.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate workloads, manage priorities, and maintain organized production schedules preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and motivate others while maintaining accountability preferred.
- Experience with weld inspection methods, documentation, and quality assurance practices preferred.

- Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math: - Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Computer: - Able to perform intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, including the use of spreadsheets, lists, schedules and certification tracking methods.
