Job Description
The Yard Hand/Delivery Driver is responsible for safely operating a delivery truck equipped with a moffett (truck-mounted forklift) to deliver materials within approximately a 5-hour radius. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being an active part of a growing, dynamic team and prefers hands-on work rather than driving a semi.
In addition to driving and making deliveries, you will assist the team with pulling orders, loading and unloading trucks and rail cars and ensuring the lumber yard stays clean, organized, and efficient. This is a hands-on role that combines driving, operating equipment, and yard support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being directly involved in day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transport building materials to and from construction sites within a 5-hour radius.
Load and unload the delivery truck and incoming trucks from vendors.
Assist in unloading rail cars
Pull orders for deliveries.
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues; perform preventative maintenance.
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
Collect and verify delivery instructions.
Maintain the lumberyard, ensuring the yard is clear of obstructions and organized at all times.
Read and interpret work orders (typed, handwritten, electronic).
Assist with routine cleaning of equipment and work area, this may include snow removal.
Report any equipment and product deficiencies.
Follow all established written and unwritten company procedures.
Comply with OSHA requirements and company safety policies and procedures.
Partner with Engineered Truss Systems, as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
