Reports to: Community/Youth Engagement Coordinator

Location: Rapid City, SD

Work Schedule:

Work Days: Monday through Thursday, Occasional Weekends

Hours/Week: 32

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, or related field and two years of experience. Transport children as assigned and be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with performance standards and the Substance Abuse/Misuse Policy for Safety Sensitive Positions & Employees Driving Children. Good computer/word processing skills, good interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to communicate and cooperate with staff, persons of all socio-economic levels, and diverse populations effectively and tactfully. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and possess current auto liability insurance. Punctuality, dependability and flexibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide advocacy, mentoring, and support for parents, families, and youth participating in the program, including intake, assessment, case plan development and implementation, and support services. Engage in creative, effective problem solving.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of and good working relationships with community agencies and schools.

  • Participate in community outreach activities to find and generate referrals of youth and families for case management. And recruit youth for program participation.

  • Ensure strong relationships, regular meetings, and ongoing communication with partnering schools, agencies, and organizations.

  • Maintain reports through collection of surveys and data related to services provided.

  • Offer and provide referrals to necessary community resources to meet the needs of program participants.

  • Transport clients as needed for appointments and case management.

  • Ensure clients receive education and strategies to improve relationship health.

  • Promote the importance of healthy relationships through educational services within our community.

  • Provide appropriate assessments to understand the needs of participants.

  • Maintain appropriate detailed records of case management and maintain accountability for program objectives and recording procedures. Including applicant characteristics, outcome measures, and local evaluation measures.

  • Assist with preparation of semiannual progress reports to OVW.

  • Maintain confidentiality of the program and participants.

  • Assist the FSAS Director by identifying and documenting issues in the delivery of services and successes.

Additional Functions:Serve as a member of the staffing team to assess the education, health, nutrition, family services, economic, and disability needs of each participant. Attend meetings of community agencies that act as resources for families in need. Cultivate and maintain community resources to assist program participants. Promote and support all YFS programs and services. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Act in accordance with purpose, philosophy, values, goals, policies, and procedures of YFS.

Environmental Functions: Must work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able and willing to meet travel needs of position, including out-of-area and out-of-state.
