Job Description
Join Our Team: Youth Navigator & Prevention Coordinator
Full-Time | Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Your work can help a young person feel safer, more informed, and more supported.
Are you someone who can connect with a room full of teenagers, build relationships with community partners, and turn important information into a conversation people actually want to have?
Do you care about creating safer communities and helping young people recognize risk, find support, and know they are not alone?
Call to Freedom is looking for a Youth Navigator & Prevention Coordinator to join our Prevention team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out in the community, building relationships, teaching, problem-solving, and making a difference.
What Your Days Might Look Like
One day you might be in a school talking with students about online safety and exploitation. The next, you could be meeting with a youth-serving organization, preparing for a community training, or helping partners strengthen their response when a young person needs support.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Bring prevention education to life through engaging, age-appropriate presentations for youth ages 0–24.
- Talk with youth and community partners about human trafficking, exploitation, technology-facilitated abuse, online safety, healthy relationships, and youth safety.
- Travel throughout South Dakota to schools, youth-serving organizations, community groups, juvenile justice programs, tribal communities, and other approved locations.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with schools, educators, youth organizations, service providers, and community response teams.
- Connect at-risk youth with appropriate services, resources, and support.
- Help communities strengthen their response to youth trafficking and improve processes following disclosures.
- Identify gaps that may prevent young people from being identified or accessing services — and help find solutions.
- Represent Call to Freedom at community events, conferences, meetings, and outreach activities.
- Keep training records, evaluations, and other documentation organized and up to date.
- Track information and help compile outcomes for grant reporting and program evaluation.
- Continue learning about emerging trends, research, and best practices related to youth safety and victimization.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Comfortable speaking to groups and able to make difficult topics understandable and engaging.
- Great at building relationships and collaborating with people from different organizations and backgrounds.
- Flexible, self-directed, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable traveling and working in different community settings.
- Passionate about helping young people and strengthening communities.
- Knowledgeable about child welfare processes in South Dakota and surrounding states, or eager to develop that knowledge.
- Experienced in working with individuals impacted by violence, trafficking, trauma, and/or substance abuse — helpful, but not required.
- Trained in trauma-informed care — beneficial, but not required.
You’ll also need:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, organization, and multitasking skills.
- The ability to use computers and agency-approved databases and tracking systems.
- A valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance.
- The ability to travel throughout South Dakota.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on training and community needs.

At Call to Freedom, we believe meaningful change happens when people work together. In this role, you’ll help make those connections happen.
